The first floor sees most of the household activity.  In the center is the 16' x 21' great
room and the 14' x 10' dining room.  On the north side is the master bedroom with its
bathroom and large walk-in closet.  Also on the north side and leading off the dining
area, is the guest bathroom (1/2 bath).  On the south side is the kitchen with its
adjacent eating nook and utility room.  Sliding glass doors connect the eating nook to
the porch.  The stair flights lead up and down with a ceramic tiled foyer on this floor.
The ceilings are all 9', except for the great room area where it goes up to the roof.

The master suite is a 12'6" x 16'6" room with 4 windows.  The outer corner is rounded
off with two windows to create a semi-alcove for sitting.  The closet is a 9'6" x 6'6"
space with shelving on the two long sides.  The closet is separated from the sink area by
a sliding mirrored door.  The water closet has a partial wall for privacy.  The shower is
a walk in, spiral shaped design equipped with dual spray heads at different heights, one
of them is a  hand held unit.

The dining room is separated from the great room by formal columns.  The ceiling is
coferred and has a medallion with a large hanging chandelier over the dining room
table.  The area is large, we have a table for eight people, a large china closet and
serving cart in it.  French doors open to the front 14' x 4' balcony.

The kitchen is equipped as shown on the equipment list, plus has roll-out shelves in the
storage cabinets.  All counter tops are Corian, including the molded in place, dual
sinks.  The cooking range is a 4 burner glass top Amana unit.  The oven and large
microwave are over-under Amana units.  The refrigerator is a Roper unit.  The floors in
the kitchen, eating nook and entry foyer are all ceramic tiles.  Fluorescent lamps are
installed behind curved acrylic panels to provide corner lighting, as well as a lamp
directly over the sink area and another installed in the variable speed ceiling fan.

There is a dumbwaiter from the garage directly into the utility room where the primary
pantry is located.  The second pantry is built into a kitchen wall.

The utility room is equipped with heavy duty Amana washer and dryer units.

The eating nook has a corner design like the master bedroom.  It is rounded off and
has two windows to provide full views of the main canal.  Sliding glass doors lead to
the 12' x 16'8" porch, which is screened and has a fiberglassed floor.

When we were designing this house, we had a elderly dog
that was beginning to lose control of herself.  We had
pocket doors installed which can be closed when we left
the house, keeping the dog on the ceramic tile floor of
the kitchen and nook, instead of the carpeted great room.
